Training and Education

I am trained as an architect, a painter, and a builder, in that order and also all at once. I have Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Idaho, and a double minor in Fine Art and Interior Design. I trained in Rome in 2019, where is spent the majority of my time sketching and water coloring plein air on the streets.

I am not your average designer. I’ve been trained in over six disciplines: Architecture, interior design, art history, fine oil painting, gouache, watercolor, textiles, metal fabricating, woodworking, print, graphic design, video game design, and photography.

I consider this wide variety of exposure necessary to being a well rounded creator. Da Vinci was onto something. We as designers need to have touched as many disciplines as we can, in order to be confident in our mastery.

I consider myself a life long student. As an artist and woman, I adhere to this motto: Jubila et Vincere Terram.

What does SerraSano mean?

Serra is Latin for sword. Sano is Latin for health, or healer.

Serra Sano is literally, the Healing Sword. Or more poetically, the healer who carries a sword.

What Does “Jubila Et Vincere Terram” mean?

This is my family motto. The phrase in Latin means “Rejoice and take back the Earth.”

This is rooted in my Christian tradition. As followers of Christ, we are bringing Heaven down to Earth. And our weapons of warfare are trust, praise, and hopeful expectation. We rejoice, and this raw act of defiant hope will be what wins the war.

We are, after all, Conquerors.
